Cresson School, the home of the Cougars, is dedicated to providing a quality-learning environment with high expectations for student achievement and behavior. The Cresson staff works diligently to produce a comprehensive, challenging, and balanced curriculum. Cresson staff continues to implement innovative teaching strategies to assure that all students have the best opportunity to learn and grow. Our goal is to provide a caring community. Therefore, developing a close relationship with the community at large is an important focus at Cresson. Parents play an integral role in creating and maintaining the culture of the school.
GATE
The Little Lake City School District recognizes that students with special gifts and talents need more challenging curriculum and instruction. The District’s Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program is open to students in grades 3-8 who have been identified through testing and teacher referrals. Teachers provide differentiated classroom instruction and enrichment activities.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVLOPMENT
Little Lake’s English Language Learner Program aims for students to gain proficiency in English and the core subjects. For admission to the Bilingual Program, parents must sign a Parent Exception Waiver. Please call Educational Services and/or your local school to learn more about the options and which one is best for your child. Parents can choose among three alternatives:
- Structured English Immersion - Instruction provided in English with support in the youngster’s primary language.
- Mainstream English - English only instruction
- Bilingual Program - Foundational instruction in the youngster’s primary language with the transition to English over time available when 30 or more students have requested this program in the district.
